We use lightweight aircraft grade aluminum giving a superior strength to weight ratio. Aluminum requires almost no maintenance, even if left outside year round. Aluminum is very durable. With any luck, this will be something that you can pass down to the kids. Most of the canoes on our rental fleet are more than forty years old. If a repair is necessary, aluminum canoes are generally easy to fix. Aluminum is also easily recyclable. Except for the foam floatation on both ends, the canoe is all aluminum. At the end of its long life, it can be easily recycled, perhaps to make a brand new canoe.

- Our canoes feature a fully welded bottom to ensure the keel will not leak. Osagian Canoes is the only manufacturer that does this. We do not use glue anywhere during the assembly. The weld is protected by a one inch keel that also gives it superior tracking in the water. All of the canoes are put together by hand by a small, dedicated team using almost 500 rivets on a standard canoe. This allows us to get close to every canoe we make to help us maintain the quality standards you expect from an Osagian Canoe. This is the way it has always been, and we are continuing that tradition.
